The sleepy county of Northamptonshire is the setting for Britain’s exciting 2025 MotoGP race, where the tiny hamlet of Silverstone sees frantic activity over the Grand Prix weekend.
This Grand Prix event was the very first to be held on the British mainland in 1977, as all prior events had been hosted by the Isle of Man TT circuit. Silverstone has over 60 years of racing history and has seen some incredible racing over the last few decades.
In 2010 the circuit was completely revamped; it is now one of the fastest tracks on the Championship calendar, and at 5.9 kilometres it is also one of the longest. The track also has eight left and ten right corners, with the longest straight measuring at 770 metres, quite a bit shorter than some of the European circuits. Dani Pedrosa currently holds the track record of 2’01.941 which he set at the 2013 event.
